Paws in the City, and the entire animal community in Dallas, lost a tremendous friend this weekend as Al Huchet passed away unexpectedly. Two words defined Al - "great guy". He was generous to a fault and always looking for ways to help animals in need, especially through Paws in the City and Dog and Kitty City. He also was a strong advocate to end puppy mills and spent many weekends protesting in front of Petland stores. Somehow, he balanced his affection for animals with a genuine concern for humans. Anyone who counted Al among his or her friends was a truly blessed person.
Whether it was printing the programs for Top Hat & Tails or playing Santa on a freezing, rainy day in December, Al was always willing to help Paws in the City. Sadly, his performance as Santa at One Arts Plaza in December will be his last.
Al is survived by his sister and parents, and his loving labrador Molly.
The family has asked for donations to support one of his causes in lieu of flowers. Please donate to Paws in the City, Dog & Kitty City or Texas Humane Legislative Network (please select "I want to stop puppy mill cruelty in Texas").
Memorial Services will be held this Saturday at 11 am at Park Central Baptist Church, 77777 LBJ Freeway (map).
