Created in 2013 as a division of Paws in the City’s rescue and adoption efforts, Fixin’ to Save works to eliminate pet overpopulation in Dallas. Through community outreach, volunteering at clinics, and financial support of vaccine and sterilization clinics, Fixin’ to Save helps diminish the numbers of unwanted litters to reduce animal euthanasia in Dallas. Our goal is a No Kill Dallas.
What do we do?
Outreach. Community outreach is a major component to Fixin’ to Save. Our dedicated volunteers educate Dallas animal owners on the importance of the vaccination and sterilization of their pets. Our volunteers actively promote upcoming vaccine and sterilization clinics pet owners may attend to have their animals vaccinated and/or sterilized for free and volunteer at the various clinics we support.
Support. Fixin’ to Save sponsors a number of Dallas Companion Animal Project Spay Days every year. As a DCAP Active Partner, the Fixin’ to Save program sponsors sterilization surgeries and vaccines for the animals attending each Spay Day. Our goal is to sponsor six Spay Days in 2016 which will result in about 600 free fixes provided to Dallas pets!
Fixin’ to Save also partners with the Spay Neuter Network to sponsor Mobile Clinic Services in the community. The Spay Neuter Network has a mobile unit where they can provide 40-50 spays and neuters on-site in one day. Their mobile unit travels around the DFW area providing sterilizations throughout the metroplex.
